of the prosperity of the ancient polis of Metapontum are still visible in the archaeological areas of Metaponto. On a hill you can admire the Tavole Palatine, the name traditionally used to indicate the remains of the suburban temple dedicated to Hera.
Grancia Historical Park
The Grancia Historical Park, more than 50 hectares wide, is located between woods and mountains and here the biggest multimedia show in Italy is on stage: "La storia bandita", a show about the history of Lucanian banditry.
It is also possible to visit little known but magical places like Rocca Imperiale, the first Calabrian village after Marina di Nova Siri, Valsinni and Craco, the "ghost town", where most of the film "The Passion of Christ" was filmed.
Also not to be missed is Bernalda, where, within an 80 hectare farm, a golf course has been created that has not affected the original appearance of the place: 18 holes that develop among citrus groves, vineyards and Mediterranean vegetation.
The Pollino Natural Park, the Gallipoli Cognato Park and the Piccole Dolomiti Lucane are also worth a visit, as are the nearby Puglia and its major naturalistic points of interest, such as the Castellana Caves.
For all excursions you can request a takeaway lunch-box.
